Saturday! Another Day of Big Gay Films!
Hello all!
The is the final weekend of the Boston LGBT Film Festival!!
There is almost too much to write about. The MFA has a bunch of area premieres. First up at Noon is João Pedro Rodrigues' new film To Die Like a Man. This is followed at 3 by Dean Hamer's wonderful documentary about growing up gay in a small Pennsylvania town Out in the Silence. There is also a great short playing with Dean's film called Get Happy that shouldn't be missed.
At 5:00 at the MFA we are showing John G. Young's heartwrenching and beautiful film Rivers Wash Over Me. This film will be followed by a panel discussion with the director of Rivers and Out in the Silence as well as youth members of BAGLY and GLSEN. It should be a great event. I hope you can make it.
This is followed at 7:30 PM by our salute to Cheryl Dunye and the New England Premiere of her new film The Owls. TIckets are going fast so please make sure you get them in advance. We are presenting Ms. Dunye with the LGBT Festival's inaugural Director Award. We'll see you there for this special event.
Meanwhile, over at the Brattle we have Ky Dickens' great romp through the Bible and its take on homosexuality, Fish Out of Water at 1:00 PM. This is followed by our International Shorts program which is presenting the best of short films from across the globe at 3:30. Then at 9:30 we have the North American premiere of Fucking Different Sao Paulo. A great collection of short films by and about LGBT filmmakers in Sao Paulo.
Finally as if that wasn't enough, we have the World Premiere of Catherine Donaldson's groundbreaking documentary about the trans community in Nepal, Beauty and Brains at the Fenway Community Health Center on Boylston Street.
It is a lot to see and we hope you can make it to everything!
See you at the theatre!!
